Entrepreneurship, business development, finance and marketing

CEO and co-founder:  Myomatrix Therapeutics                                                            January 2001 – present

Grew cardiovascular pharmaceutical startup from concept to 4 product development projects currently in progress.
Human Resource
management
         Myomatrix currently has 5 employees (founders, full time, part time and contract)

Financing                  Successful seed round of over $500,000 in debt and equity financing. Preparation of business plan, financial projections and planning, presentations to venture capitalists. Accounting, payroll systems, CFO functions.  

Business Development: Experience in negotiating a co-development (50% cost sharing) contract with a large multinational pharmaceutical company; in-licensed technology from companies and universities, established R&D collaborations. Currently in partnering talks with Australian biotechnology company.

Science:                       Identified and evaluated technologies for in-licensing or partnership; completed 5 SBIR proposals to NSF/NIH/NASA to help fund technology development in the company’s drug discovery platform technologies and products.

Worked with VP-level executives in market-leading companies and with management faculty to further grow a management research program in sustaining corporate innovation capabilities in large multinational corporations. Successfully recruited a new cohort (cohort III) of companies including Procter and Gamble, Guidant, Dow Corning, Rohm and Haas, PPG Industries, Xerox, and Intel. Organized and participated in executive-level workshop/conference with thought leaders and top level innovation managers from these companies.

•  Phase II/III clinical trial experience : data collection, compilation and presentation through participation in a university-sponsored osteoporosis drug trial at UTSW.
•  Research specialization in bone metabolism, extracellular matrix, biomechanics and ultrasound physics and imaging.
•  Managed a research team of research engineers and students, training and supervising a $350,000 operation.
•  Designed and developed a novel ultrasonic device for clinical applications.
•  Published peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals, presented at international conferences.
•  Developed biochemical and biomechanical methods for the study of bone matrix physiology
•  Collaborated with colleagues in development of novel radiological imaging technologies PET/MR/Ultrasound 

Graduate Research Assistant  UTSW                                                                        1990-1995

·   Conceptualized, proposed and founded a tissue engineering laboratory to investigate the effects of drugs on bone material, with an annual budget of $125,000 and supervised two other graduate students.
·  
This effort resulted in a Young Investigator of the Year award (Texas Mineralized Society, 1993) and an interview on a television news channel in Dallas, Texas. Later work focused on biomechanics of bone and a novel ultrasound device developed for clinical use.

Developed a novel biodegradable mineralized biopolymer as a bone substitute (Rutgers University). 1989.
